LEXINGTON, S.C. — In the end, his mother's mac-n-cheese may have been one of the deciding factors.
Lexington star guard Cam Scott had signed with Texas in early November but less than a week ago, Scott was granted a release from a national letter of intent.
Early Thursday morning, Scott was on 107.5 The Game for his first interview detailing his decision to stay home and play for South Carolina. While enjoying his mother's cooking will be one of the benefits of playing at South Carolina, Cam's decision was based on being able to play in front of family and friends who can make a 30 minute or so drive to the Colonial Life Arena to see him perform instead of boarding a plane for the Lonestar State.
The state Gatorade Player of the Year for the past two seasons, Scott led Lexington to its first state championship since 2000, as he averaged 22.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 2.5 assists this past season.
