LEXINGTON, S.C. — For just the second time in program history, the White Knoll football team is in the semi-finals of the state playoffs.
The Timberwolves will take a 12-0 record into Friday's 5A Lower State Championship Game against 13-0 Summerville.
The team was on the practice fields Thanksgiving morning for a light workout which was followed by instructions from head coach Nick Pelham on having a safe Thanksgiving but also the importance of being thankful to be playing this week and to be doing so at home.
The Timberwolves have been quite dominating since the playoffs kicked off. Defensively, White Knoll held Cane Bay scoreless and held Fort Dorchester and Sumter to seven points each.
They will face a Summerville offense which is scoring an average of 47.4 points per game. White Knoll is no slouch on offense, averaging 38.3 points per game. That unit will face a Summerville defense which is giving up an average of 20.3 points this season. But the Green Wave is coming off a game where they held Berkeley to just 14 points.
White Knoll head football coach Nick Pelham says his team has been educated this week about the history of Summerville and its place in the state in terms of programs with rich tradition. After defeating a number of name programs this season, White Knoll can advance to its first state championship game with a victory over a program with 12 state championships on its ledger.
