Camden brings the star power to the Chick-fil-A Classic

With the nation's #2 prospect on the court against the top-ranked prospect for the Class of 2024, the Chick-fil-A Classic girls showcase had plenty of excitement.

LEXINGTON, S.C. — Day one of the Chick-fil-A Classic saw a full day o action at River Bluff High School but the marquee matchup took place in the second annual girls showcase.

Defending 3A state championship Camden faced Grace Christian. The team from Raleigh is headlined by Sarah Strong, ranked as high as first nationally for the class of 2025. 

Camden, of course, features South Carolina signee and the #2 ranked prospect for the class of 2024 in Joyce Edwards, a recent USC signee.

With Gamecock head coach Dawn Staley, her staff and a number of players watching courtside, Edwards scored 27 for Camden. But Strong scored 31 points as Grace Christian defeated the Bulldogs 58-52.

In other action, Ridge View defeated the host River Bluff 64-59 while Charlotte Country Day defeated defending 4A state champion Irmo fell to Charlotte Country Day 58-40.
