The South Carolina signee has been named the state's Gatorade Player of the Year for the second consecutive year

CAMDEN, S.C. — For the second year in a row, Camden star forward Joyce Edwards is the South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year. Edwards has also been named one of three finalists for the Gatorade National Girls Basketball Player of the Year award.

Edwards joins former Lower Richland star Morgan Stroman as players who have won consecutive Gatorade awards. Stroman, who played for her mother at Lower Richland, Hall of Famer Debbie Wardlaw, won the state's Gatorade award from 2007-2009.

Rated as the #2 prospect in the Class of 2024, Edwards is a South Carolina signee who recently helped Camden capture its second consecutive Class 3A state championship. She averaged 31.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, 4.5 steals, 4.0 assists and 3.3 blocks this past season.

A McDonalds All-American, Edwards will be in Houston in April to compete in the annual showcase of national talent.
