COLUMBIA, S.C. — It was just a couple of years ago when Ridge View 5-star prospect GG Jackson reclassified for the class of 2022 so he could begin his college basketball career at South Carolina a year ahead of schedule.
Now, a member of the RIdge View football team is doing likewise.
Jordan Gidron, a 4-star prospect, announced late Friday afternoon he has committed to South Carolina and will accelerate his college career by reclassifying to the class of 2025. He had been ranked as the state's top prospect for the class of 2026.
Gidron chose the Gamecocks over a host of schools including Alabama, Georgia, Miami and Tennessee.
He will bring plenty of speed to the South Carolina program as he is an outstanding sprinter, winning state titles in the 100 and 200-meter for the Blazers back in the spring.
