Richland One's Sportsarama kicks off 2024 high school football season

Annual event scheduled for August 16 at Memorial Stadium in Columbia

COLUMBIA, S.C. — It's mid-August and school is back in session, so you know what this means -- the 2024 high school football season is upon us.

Richland County School District One and the Sertoma Club hosts the annual Sportsarama this Friday, August 16, at Memorial Stadium, at the corner of South Holly Street and Airport Boulevard in Columbia's Rosewood neighborhood. The annual event showcases eight high school teams, playing four mini-contests consisting of two 12-minute quarters.

Pre-game show starts at 6 p.m., with the first kick-off at 6:30 p.m. The matchups include:

  • Game 1: C.A. Johnson (home team) vs. W.J. Keenan – 6:30 p.m.
  • Game 2: Eau Claire (home team) vs. Whitmire – 7:10 p.m.
  • Game 3: Dreher (home team) vs. Columbia – 7:50 p.m.
  • Awards Presentations at 8:30 p.m. – Mr. and Miss Sportsarama and the winners of the Band in the Stands awards will be announced.
  • Game 4: A.C. Flora (home team) vs. Lower Richland – 8:50 p.m. 

Tickets are $8 and are available online. A clear bag policy will be in effect and enforced at all football games held at district stadiums during the 2024 season.
