CAMDEN, S.C. — After winning back-to-back Class 3A state championships and her daughter exhausted all of her eligibility, Natalie Norris figured now was the perfect time to call it a career.
Norris is resigning as the head girls basketball coach at Camden, a position she has held since 2011. Norris told the Camden Chronicle she will still teach at her alma mater.
With 5-star prospect Joyce Edwards on the roster, Camden played for the 3A state championship for the last three seasons. After losing to W.J. Keenan in 2022, the Bulldogs recorded back-to-back state championship victories with a pair of wins over Wren. The victory in 2023 marked the first state championship for the Camden girls program since 1982.
Norris has been able to coach her daughther, Deanna, throughout high school and they have been able to share the special moments of winning back-to-back state titles.
A 1992 graduate of Camden, Norris was named the state's Gatorade Player of the Year in her senior season before going on to play at South Carolina.
