COLUMBIA, S.C. — Jais Ward has been running since the second grade and given her family history, she was destined to continue that traditiion.
Her mother, Bunny Ward, competed at Harvard and her grandmother is Hall of Famer Catherine Lempesis who once competed in the Boston Marathon. A former Spring Valley track and field/cross country coach, Lempesis won 14 state championships at the school.
With Ben Lippen head coach Fran Ricks and Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Bailey Harris, Jais and the rest of the Ben Lippen runners have a tremendous support staff to help them reach their potential.
Jais has certainly run a high level at Ben Lippen where she has won multiple state championships. In the classroom, Jais has a grade point average around a 4.8 and that will serve her well at Furman where she plans on majoring in pre-med.
