Dutch Fork senior defensive lineman is a News19 Player of the Week

Dakota Jordan helped Dutch Fork win another 5A state title before competing in the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl.

IRMO, S.C. — It has been quite a productive December for Dakota Jordan.

The Dutch Fork senior defensive lineman helped his team capture its second consecutive 5A state championship with a 21-6 victory over White Knoll.

This past weekend, Dakota was at Myrtle Beach competing in the 76th Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl. He helped the South team defeat the North 28-8 and he actually capped off the scoring by returning a fumble for a touchdown.

Dutch Fork defensive coordinator Scott Braswell says Dakota was one of the reasons the Silver Foxes rallied from a 2-5 deficit to become state champions. As one of the seasoned senior leaders, Dakota continued to prepare accordingly and eventually, the players elevated their game to a level that was good enough to win a state title.

As successful as his athletic career has been, his most impressive statistic is the 4.5 grade point average he carries in the classroom and he maintains that by taking advanced courses.

Dakota is getting some interest at the next level from Division II schools. Wherever he lands next, he plans on majoring in biology.
