Irmo, SC (WLTX) --- Reggie Kennedy arrived on the Irmo campus Wednesday morning where he spent time chatting with the staff and meeting with school principal David Reiger.
Kennedy was officially approved Monday night by the Lexington-Richland District 5 school board. He comes to Irmo after one year at Sumter where he led the Gamecocks to the 4A Division I state finals.
But Kennedy has been a mainstay in the Midlands area with stops at Fairfield Central, Orangeburg-Wilkinson and Blythewood.
He called the Irmo job a "once in a lifetime opportunity" that he couldn't pass up.
WIth May coming to an end, Kennedy knows he has a lot of work ahead of him as he quickly gets adjusted to his new role. But its a challenge the East Clarendon and S.C. State graduate says he is ready to tackle.
The former All-MEAC linebacker was sporting the garnet and blue gear from S.C. State as he made his way through the halls at Irmo. You might call that a transitional wardrobe as he changes from the blue and yellow to the black and gold.
