Defense carries the South to a 28-8 win over the North in the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl

In this annual battle between the North All-Stars and the South All-Stars, the South limited their opponent to just one trip to the end zone.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The 76th annual Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl saw the South All-Stars defeat the North All-Stars 28-8.

Hartsville’s Carmelo McDaniel was named the South Offensive Most Valuable Player after he rushed for 82 yards on five carries, including a 64-yard touchdown in the first quarter which gave the South a 7-6 lead. 

Irmo defensive back Isaiah McClary was named the Defensive MVP for the South Team after he recorded interceptions on back-to-back possessions in the second quarter as the South took a 14-8 lead at halftime.

The defense continued to keep the North out of the end zone and added a fumble return for a touchdown by Dutch Fork's Dakota Jordan in the fourth quarter to wrap up the scoring.

Richland Northeast head football coach Walt Wilson served as the head coach of the South Team. Longtime Chapin assistant Jody Haltiwanger was a South Team assistant. On the North staff, Mid-Carolina head coach Chris Arnoult and Spring Valley assistant coach Bruce Dingler worked as assistants.
