RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Coach K will stay. Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski ended talks with the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday, telling the NBA team he would remain at the school he has led for 24 years and to three NCAA tournament titles, the school said in a statement. Krzyzewski scheduled a 5 p.m. news conference at Duke's Durham campus, with president Richard Broadhead and athletics director Joe Alleva. Krzyzewski had met with Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak on Thursday to discuss the NBA team's coaching vacancy. The Los Angeles Times and ESPN had previously reported that Krzyzewski was offered the job, but Lakers officials had refused comment. The NBA team has been searching for a new head coach since June 18, when coach Phil Jackson stepped down three days after an NBA Finals loss to Detroit.
