COLUMBIA, S.C. — University of South Carolina's 2024 football schedule has been released, and it's shaping up to be another tough season for the Gamecocks.
Head coach Shane Beamer enters his fourth year with a 12-game schedule featuring nine teams headed to the post-season this year, including the Gamecocks' first-ever matchup against Oklahoma. The Sooners (10-2 in the 2023 regular season) and Texas Longhorns (12-1) are officially members of the SEC as of the 2024 season.
The 2024 season also features two bye weeks -- Sept. 28 and Oct. 26 --and the Clemson game is scheduled for Nov. 30 at Clemson (8-4). Gamecock fans will remember the team's last trip to the Upstate, which resulted in a win for USC.
Some of the highlights include:
- Aug. 31: season-opener against Old Dominion (6-6) will be the first time the two teams have met.
- Sept. 7: the first SEC game will be on the road at Kentucky (7-5). USC has won the last two games against the Wildcats and holds a 24-14-1 lead in the series.
- Sept. 14: SEC season opener at home against LSU (9-3). The Tigers hold a 19-2-1 advantage, including a 52-24 win at their last meeting in Baton Rouge in 2020.
- Sept. 21: the Akron Zips come to Columbia as part of Family Weekend on the USC campus. The two teams met for the first time in 2018, with the Gamecocks taking the game 28-3.
