STATESVILLE, N.C. — AM Racing has announced that Irmo native Danny Efland will serve as the team's crew chief in the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.

Efland, who also attended the University of South Carolina, will be paired with Harrison Burton in 2025.

"I have worked hard for this opportunity, and I believe in the vision of AM Racing, as well as Harrison's capabilities, I know that they have what it takes to contend for race wins and ultimately a championship," Efland said in a release from AM Racing.

Burton is joining AM Racing after being in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving for the Wood Brothers since 2022.  Burton won his first NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway in August.

"I am looking forward to working with Danny next season. With his credentials as a successful engineer and experience as a race car driver, it should benefit our realistic goals for contending for race wins and chasing an Xfinity Series championship," said Burton in a statement from the race team.

Efland made his debut as an Xfinity Series driver in 2007.  In 2014, he got out of the race car to work as an engineer for Richard Childress Racing, Richard Petty Motorsports, and Legacy Motor Club.  He currently is the lead engineer for the No. 43 Legacy Motor Club Toyota, driven by Erik Jones.

In addition to the Xfinity Series, AM Racing also competes in the ARCA Menards Series and various Dirt Modified events.
