South Carolina quarterback attends the Goodyear 400 on a Throwback Weekend in Darlington, while Larson and Labonte take everyone back to 1996

The Goodyear 400 takes center stage as News19 catches up with relatively new race fan LaNorris Sellers and two-time Cup champion Terry Labonte in attendance

DARLINGTON, S.C. — South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers recalls the first time he attended a NASCAR race at the Darlington Raceway and he was around 10 years old.

But nearly a decade later, LaNorris was back at the Track Too Tough To Tame and this time, he was perched on top of the Brad Keselowski pit box.

Coincidentally, Keselowski snapped a 110-race winless streak with a win Sunday at Darlington and with LaNorris on top of the pit box for that performance, that might be a sign of what is to come for the Gamecock football team this fall. It could also mean LaNorris is the good luck charm for the #6 team and he might receive an invitation for future races.

Labonte and Larson celebrate a Throwback Weekend

The most talked-about paint scheme on pit road belonged to Hendrick Motorsports. Back in 1996, Terry Labonte's red and yellow Kellogg's Chevy ended the season as the Cup champion.

In 2024, those same colors were brought back for the Throwback Weekend with sponsorship from Hendrickcars.com. Labonte showed up in a matching race uniform with the current driver of the #5 Kyle Larson which only added to the nostalgia created on pit road as Labonte posed for pictures not only with Larson and his former Hendrick teammate Jeff Gordon but members of the 1996 pit crew made the trip to the Pee Dee to help celebrate the return of that iconic paint scheme to competition.
