'I don't fight as fair as I used to,' Childress responds to Stenhouse Jr.'s threat to wreck Kyle Busch in Coca-Cola 600

Richard Childress had a fiery response after a weekend of skirmishes and threats at North Wilkesboro Speedway.

LEXINGTON, N.C. — By now, you most likely know about the fight that took place after this year's NASCAR All-Star Race up at the North Wilkesboro Speedway.

Two drivers (Kyle Busch and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.), with a long history of tension, once again rubbed each other the wrong way leading up to a massive brawl on the infield of the birthplace of the sport. Several different videos and angles of the altercation have circulated (click the previous link if you haven't seen it) on television and online to the point that even the most novice of NASCAR followers are in the loop as to what happened.

Well, fast forward to Tuesday evening. Richard Childress, the owner of Richard Childress Racing, the team that Kyle Busch and his #8 car represent, took a few minutes to address the incident that took place in N. Wilkesboro, and the 78-year-old Childress didn't mince words.

"I don't fight as fair as I used to, I'm a little older," is how Childress began his statement, then went on to add: "Ricky Stenhouse (Stenhouse Jr.) said he was going to wreck the #8 car (Kyle Busch's vehicle) at Charlotte. So when I see him, I'm going to tell him, 'Yeah, I'm older, but I just changed my style of fighting - he'll carry a rough a**-beating...I hope it doesn't come to that, but we'll be ready if it does."

So it sounds like we're in for more fireworks this upcoming weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. There will be plenty of opportunity for some bumping at the longest race of the season, the Coca-Cola 600.

Wednesday, NASCAR handed down punishments for several people involved in the fight at North Wilkesboro, and to read up on the details of those penalties, you can click the story below for more.
