DARLINGTON, S.C. (AP) - Darlington Raceway's return to Labor Day weekend will start under the lights.
The track announced Tuesday that the Bojangles Southern 500 will start at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6.
The NASCAR XFINITY Series race will take place Saturday, Sept. 5, at 3:30 p.m.
It's the first time since 2003 that Darlington Raceway will host a Southern 500 on Labor Day weekend, a position it held on the NASCAR schedule for 53 years before realignment. The track has held the Southern 500 in April, May and November in the 12 years since.
The track installed its lights after the switch from Labor Day.
