W.J. Keenan product embarks on a new chapter in OKC

Oklahoma City chose Dillon Jones with the 26th pick in last week's NBA Draft. Jones feels returning to college for his senior season added to his draft stock.

OKLAHOMA CITY — It has been quite the week for Dillon Jones who on Thursday, was taken with the 26th overall selection by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

A former standout at W.J. Keenan High School, Dillon was one of the most decorated players in the history of the Big Sky Conference. This past spring, Dillon was named the conference MVP and that came in his senior season.

A year ago, Dillon went through the NBA Draft process but did not hire and agent and as a result, he exercised his option of returning to Weber State for his senior season.

Jones feels that decision was monumental in helping to take his game to another level and instead of worrying about if he would be drafted, the only question was when. Many mock drafts had Dillon going early in the second round but that projection was far exceeded when he got that phone call from the OKC late Thursday evening.
