CLEMSON, S.C. — A year ago, Clemson was one of the hottest teams in the country and with a top eight national seed, the ACC Tournament champions were all set to roll into Super Regionals with an eye on Omaha in the first year of the Erik Bakich era.
But the Tigers would run out of gas and it was Tennessee who made it out of the Clemson regional.
This year, the Tigers have once again earned a top eight national seed although they are not entering June on a major winning streak. They went 1-1 in the ACC Tournament and while they have had 24 come-from-behind wins this season, pitching has been an issue at times where they have had to win their share of shootouts.
But as far as head coach Erik Bakich is concerned, "This is the High Point Regional".
Clemson will host High Point Friday at 7:00 p.m. while the two seed Vanderbilt and three seed Coastal Carolina will play in the afternoon game which starts at noon.
