Clemson gets ready for another season opener away from home

The Tigers will face Georgia on August 31 in the Aflac Kickoff Game in Atlanta

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The last time Clemson opened a season in Death Valley was 2019 as trips to Winston-Salem, Charlotte, Atlanta and Durham have served as week one destinations.

The Tigers will return to Atlanta at the end of the August to open the 2024 season in the Aflac Kickoff Game against Georgia.

Georgia won the last meeting with the Tigers, a 10-3 slugfest in Charlotte back in 2021.

Head coach Dabo Swinney says "in totality", Georgia has been the best team in college football the last three years with two national championships and the Bulldogs came up just short last year of the CFB Playoff.

Clemson came one win shy in 2023 of extending the program's streak of double-digit wins. Instead, a 9-4 record stopped that streak at 12 but a win over the Bulldogs would continue the momentum of the five-game winning streak which was registered at the end of last season.
