Allen University sweeps a doubleheader with Benedict College

In a contest between the two next door neighbors on Harden Street, Allen defended its home court in both contests.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A Saturday afternoon doubleheader at John Hurst Adams Gymnasium saw Allen University take a pair of wins from arch-rival Benedict College.

In the women's game, the first game of the doubleheader went to overtime with Allen winning 71-64. 

The Yellow Jackets were led by Mya Johnson with 16 points. Kash Hankerson added 14 and Talaya Boxley with 13. 

Shakera Duncan  led Benedict with 18 points. 

The Allen women improve to 10-13 overall, 6-110 in the SIAC. Benedict falls to 3-22, 1-17 in the SIAC.

In the men's game, Allen (14-11, 10-8 SIAC) earned its first ranked victory of the NCAA era Saturday, defeating #20 Benedict, 72-62.  Allen was led in scoring by G'Shan Aldridge who had 15. Tyriq McAdoo added 13.

Brandon Beidleman led the Tigers in scoring with 15. Malachi McCoy added 12 and Marshaun West chipped in 10 for Benedict which is now 19-5, 13-5 in the SIAC.
