COLUMBIA, S.C. β After four years in Florence, Lauryn Taylor is headed to Fort Myers.
The Spring Valley graduate who has been a four-year starter at Francis Marion University will play her final season at Florida Gulf Coast University.
Taylor put her name in the transfer portal last month while she was still receiving All-America recognition for her past season with the Patriots. Taylor was named third-team All-America by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association and honorable mention All-America by the Womenβs Basketball Coaches Association.
Taylor was named Conference Carolinas Player of the Year for the second consecutive year and earned her first Defensive Player of the Year award after she finished second in the conference in scoring at 17.7 points per game and led the nation in rebounding at 15.0 rebounds per contest, In a February win over North Greenville, Taylor pulled down 43 rebounds which set a new NCAA single-game record for all divisions.
Taylor will be headed to a program that competes in the Atlantic Sun Conference and has won the last seven ASUN tournament championships to earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
