COLUMBIA, S.C. — Just a couple of months removed from the end of his freshman season on the Gamecock football team, Nyck Harbor made his home debut in the South Carolina Invite at the Carolina Indoor Track & Field Complex.
Harbor came to the South Carolina football program as a 5-star prospect who played both tight end and defensive end at Archbishop Carroll High School in the nation’s capital. He was a sprinter on the track team and like football, Harbor was a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year for the District of Columbia.
His freshman season for football was one of transitioning to the Power 5 level and he is now navigating his way through his first season in college on the track.
On Saturday, Harbor's third meet of the 2024 and his first home meet saw him finish fourth in the 60-meter and third in the 200-meter.
Harbor began his day by running 6.75 in the 60m qualifying round before clocking back-to-back times of 6.67 in the prelims and finals to finish fourth overall. Harbor’s time of 6.67 ranks sixth in Gamecock history. Meanwhile in the 200m, the Washington D.C. native ran the 20th fastest time in the NCAA and the eighth fastest indoor 200m in program history after clocking 20.86 to finish third.
