The Citadel football team holds Spring Practice at River Bluff High School

With spring practice almost in the books for 2024, the Citadel changed up their spring practice schedule with a trip to Lexington.

LEXINGTON, S.C. — When Johnson-Hagood Stadium was set to host a food and wine event on Saturday, the Citadel football team decided to take spring practice on the road.

The Bulldogs packed up their gear and made the trip up I-26 to River Bluff High School. That school was chosen because it was centrally located in the state and the practice was open to Bulldog fans. But food and fellowship was part of the day as the fans had a chance to eat lunch with the team following Saturday's workout.

Ironically, the wine and cheese festival was cancelled but the Bulldogs had already committed to coming to The Swamp for Saturday's practice.

Head coach Maurice Drayton, a Citadel graduate, has made it a point to make sure the alumni feel connected to the program and Saturday's open practice was part of that endeavor.
