COLUMBIA, S.C. — It has been busy week for SEC commissioner Greg Sankey who was in Columbia Thursday night, his third city in an many days.
Sankey was on the court at the Colonial Life Arena as part of the ceremony for the South Carolina women's basketball team which clinched at least a share of another regular season title.
Sankey's stop in Columbia continued Friday morning as he was the special guest of the University of South Carolina Board of Trustees, Following his session in executive session with the board, Sankey spent roughly 30 minutes answering questions from the media.
Topics of discussion ranged from the new CFP playoff format to the strategic partnership between the SEC and the Big Ten to deal with some major issues that are part of today's college athletics landscape.
Sankey was scheduled to visit Florida before spending Saturday at Auburn for the SEC Swimming and Diving Championships. And then it's back to the day-to-day challenges of leading the SEC in 2024 and beyond, challenges that were not at the forefront just a few years ago.
