(WLTX) - Both South Carolina and Clemson took a tumble in the latest college football polls.

The drops weren't a surprise, as each squad is coming off 24-point losses to open the season. Texas A&M defeated the Gamecocks 52-28 last Thursday, while Georgia pulled away late to beat Clemson 45-21.

South Carolina is 21st both in this week's Amway USA TODAY Sports Coaches and Associated Press poll, while Clemson is 24th in the coaches and 23rd in the AP. Last week, USC was 9th, while Clemson was 16th.

The Gamecocks next take on East Carolina on Saturday, while Clemson will match up against South Carolina State.

Florida State was once again number one in the coaches poll, followed by Alabama, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Auburn. Georgia moved up to 8th while Texas A&M zoomed up to 13th.
