COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina senior Kamilla Cardoso is a finalist for the Lisa Leslie Center of the Year Award, as announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.
In its seventh season, the Lisa Leslie award recognizes the top center in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball and has been won by a Gamecock five times.
The SEC Defensive Player of the Year and a First-Team All-SEC selection, Cardoso is 13th in the nation in blocks per game (2.8) and 21st in field goal percentage (.581) and she leads the SEC in both of those categories.
Cardoso is averaging a double-double with 14.1 points and 10.0 rebounds per game and she is 33rd in the nation in rebounding average and 31st in double-doubles with 13 in her 24 games played.

The Lisa Leslie award is named after the former Southern Cal and WMNA Star who has been inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. She is also a four-time Olympian who has been a part of four gold medal teams.
