#12 South Carolina no-hits Miami of Ohio to earn a three-game sweep to start 2024

For the eighth time in program history and the first time since February of 2013, the Gamecocks record a no-hitter.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Five University of South Carolina pitchers combined for the Gamecocks’ eighth no-hitter in school history as the Gamecocks completed a three-game sweep of Miami (Ohio), 14-0, in seven innings on Sunday afternoon at Founders Park.

Roman Kimball, Ty Good, Tyler Pitzer, Parker Marlatt and Tyler Dean combined to strike out nine in the seven innings. Kimball, who did not pitch in 2023 due to injury, struck out five in a two-inning start. Good also went two innings and had two strikeouts. Pitzer and Marlatt had a strikeout apiece in an inning and Dean closed out with a 1-2-3 seventh.

The Carolina offense gave the pitchers more than enough in the first, scoring seven runs as 11 hitters came to the plate. The Gamecocks walked six times and were hit by one pitch. Dylan Brewer had the big hit, a two-run single to center. Carolina scored five runs in the fourth as Gavin Casas plated with a double to right and Cole Messina drove in a pair with a single, and two in the sixth.

Messina had three RBI on the day, while Brewer and Gavin Casas had two RBI apiece. Talmadge LeCroy scored three runs while Parker Noland joined Brewer with two hits apiece.
