COLUMBIA, S.C. — Georgia hit five home runs and scored seven runs in the first two innings in a 14-10 win over South Carolina Thursday night at Founders Park.
Georgia scored four in the first but Carolina answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame. Kennedy Jones had a two RBI single and Blake Jackson an RBI bunt double in the first. Talmadge LeCroy brought in a run on a sacrifice bunt in the third.
The Bulldogs responded with three runs in the top of the second. Corey Collins delivered a two-run home run for a 6-3 lead. That was followed by Charlie Condon who connected for his NCAA-leading 34th home run of the season. He has now homered in eight straight games for the Bulldogs.
Carolina was down 12-4 before scoring three runs in the sixth. Jackson brought in a run on a sacrifice fly and Parker Noland singled up the middle for a run. Ethan Petry scored on a failed pickoff to first. Carolina added three runs in the eighth on Jones double and Reeves’ two-run single to close the scoring.
Jones was 4-for-5 with three RBI to lead the Carolina offense. Petry, Noland and Reeves had two hits apiece and Reeves joined Jackson with a pair of RBI.
Roman Kimball took the loss, allowing four runs on two hits with a strikeout in a third of an inning. Ty Good struck out seven for the third straight outing while Drake Quinn had three punchouts in three innings of relief.
