South Carolina baseball begins preseason practice looking to build on the good things that came their way last season

The Gamecocks had an eventful 2023 regular season which featured a surge into the top five of the national rankings, injuries and a Super Regional appearance.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina took advantage of spring like weather Friday as it was on the grass at Founders Park for their first official practice of the preseason.

The Gamecocks will begin a new season February 16 with a three-game series with Miami of Ohio at Founders Park. But first things first. The weekend scheduled has scrimmages scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. The scrimmages are free and open to the public. Saturday's scrimmage was scheduled for 2:00 p.m. but was moved up to avoid the Saturday afternoon rain.

Next Saturday, the Gamecock baseball team will hold a Fan Fest with gates opening at 12 following by an intra-squad scrimmage at 12:30 p.m. The team will sign the official Gamecock baseball poster from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
