Still in the spotlight, Camden's Joyce Edwards is now a freshman on the best team in the country

After winning multiple national player of the year awards in her senior season at Camden, Edwards has arrived on campus with a desire to learn from the veterans.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Joyce Edwards has had quite the busy stretch.

In March, she helped Camden win its second consecutive 3A state championship before jumping right into soccer, helping the Bulldogs make a deep run in the playoffs.

She has enhanced her international resume, recently helping Team USA and the U19 team win its 11 straight gold medal in the FIBA AmeriCup which was held in Colombia.

Edwards was named tournament MVP after averaging 14.2 points per contest.

She has since enrolled at South Carolina for the summer and she has embraced the challenge of being a freshman on a team which went undefeated last season. Edwards was the #2 ranked prospect nationally for the class of 2024 and her accomplishments have been well-documented. But Edwards says all of her awards in high school are in the rear view mirror as she looks to learn as much as she can and improve accordingly as she gears up for her freshman campaign.
