COLUMBIA, S.C. — Lamont Paris has found his point guard from the transfer portal.
MEAC Player of the Year Jamarii Thomas from Norfolk State has verbally committed to South Carolina, flipping his commitment from VCU.
The 6-foot, 185-pounder led the MEAC with an average of 16.9 points per game and 2.1 steals per game. He added 3.8 rebounds and 3.8 steals per game for the Spartans.
Thomas spent his first two seasons at UNC Wilmington before transferring to Norfolk State where in his one season in the MEAC, he was named Newcomer of the Year along with being named the league's Player of the Year.
The Greensboro native was named a finalist for the 2024 Lou Henson National Player of the Year award which is presented annually to the top player in mid-major college basketball, the accolade is named after the late Lou Henson, the winningest coach in Illinois basketball history with 423 victories.
