COLUMBIA, S.C. — Lamont Paris is set to bring back a former Gamecock assistant to fill the opening on his staff.
According to CBS basketball insider Jon Rothstein, Paris will hire Will Bailey who was on Frank Martin's staff at South Carolina from 2020-2022. This past season, he was on the staff at Loyola-Chicago.
Bailey's arrival comes after Tim Buckley left the program to join the staff at Cincinnati.
In his Monday news conference, Paris talked about the status of his search for a new assistant.
"I anticipate making an announcement here pretty soon on the direction that we are going to go with that," Paris said.
"I was really interested in familiarity with me and what we do. I like guys that can teach. That's a big part in what we do is teach. Guys that work hard. Guys that are loyal. I am excited about making this addition and it should happen sometime in the really near future."
