A quick study, Joyce Edwards has a solid performance as South Carolina dominates Clayton State 126-42

Gamecock freshman forward Joyce Edwards was on the court for the first time at Colonial Life Arena in garnet and black colors.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina women's basketball team played its second exhibition of the month Monday night, defeating Clayton State 126-42.

W.J. Keenan grad Milaysia Fulwiley led the scoring with 24 points with Camden's Joyce Edwards adding 20 points, 11 points, six assists, three blocks and two steals.

The #2 ranked prospect nationally coming out of high school, Edwards capped off her career with back-to-back state championships with the Bulldogs and now she joins a program which went unbeaten last season.

There is no doubt that Edwards is a special athlete. Not only did she become one of the nation's best prospect in the country for basketball, but the 6-2 Edwards could have pursued a D1 career in soccer.

Head coach Dawn Staley has raved about Edwards' versatility on the court, stating Joyce could conceivably be inserted into any one of the five positions.
