COLUMBIA, S.C. — Back in November, South Carolina opened the regular season in Paris against Notre Dame.
This fall, the reigning national champions will begin the defense of their title on American soil but in a city known for entertainment.
Carolina will open the regular season in Las Vegas, that according to head coach Dawn Staley who made that announcement Wednesday morning during a radio interview with 107.5 The Game.
Staley said there was an opponent lined up but that opponent has since backed out. So we will have to wait and see who the Gamecocks will face in Sin City.
There are other parts of the non-conference schedule which Staley alluded to in the interview.
UConn will return to the CLA for what has become an annual rivalry game. Carolina will compete in the ACC/SEC challenge and Staley will take her team out West to face UCLA as part of the final leg of a home-and-home series.
Back in March, the Charlotte Sports Foundation announced the Gamecocks would face N.C. State in the Ally Tipoff on November 10 at the Spectrum Center.
