COLUMBIA, S.C. — The SEC has announced the league opponents for the upcoming 2024-2025 season for men's basketball and South Carolina will have home and road games with Florida, Georgia and Mississippi State.
The conference schedule will tip off on Saturday, January 4 and will finish on Saturday, March 8. With the league expanding to 16 schools with the addition of Texas and Oklahoma, each SEC team will play the other 15 at least once during league play.
Six of South Carolina's nine home opponents made the NCAA Tournament - Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Mississippi State, Texas and Texas A&M.
There have been just two meetings all-time with Texas and they came in the Bill Foster era. The Gamecocks beat Texas 74-70 on Dec. 23, 1980 at Carolina Coliseum and the Longhorns won the return game, 88-71, in Austin on Jan. 23, 1982.
The road opponents include Kentucky, Tennessee and Oklahoma with the trip to Norman just the third all-time and first since Dec. 10, 1992.
The SEC Tournament returns to Nashville and Bridgestone Arena from March 12-16, 2025.
The Gamecocks are seeking their second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. This past season, Carolina finished tied for second in the SEC with a 13-5 conference record. Overall, South Carolina finished 26-8 and those 26 victories tied the 2016-17 Final Four team for the most in program history.
