COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina women’s basketball guard MiLaysia Fulwiley has been named the SEC Co-Freshman of the Week for the second time in three weeks.

Fulwiley was the Gamecocks’ second-highest scorer over their two wins last week with an average of 14.5 points per game.

The team’s top scorer at Auburn, Fulwiley scored six of her 15 points during a 6-2 run late in the second quarter to help the Gamecocks take a five-point lead into halftime despite a tough-shooting first half.  Three days later against Ole Miss, Fulwiley capped an 8-0 second-quarter run with a buzzer-beating layup for a nine-point halftime lead.

On the season, Fulwiley is third on the team in scoring at 11.7 points per game and averages 2.1 assists. She has been the team’s top scorer in seven games, which is tied for the team lead, and has 15 double-digit scoring games.

No. 1/1 South Carolina continues a three-game homestand on Thu., Feb. 8, against Missouri. Tipofff at Colonial Life Arena is set for 7 p.m. with the game airing on SEC Network.
