COLUMBIA, S.C. — The second season of the Lamont Paris tenure in Columbia has seen the Gamecocks emerge as one of the surprise teams in the country.
South Carolina is currently 15-3 overall and 3-2 in the SEC. After well outpacing last year's win total, the Gamecocks have a chance to make a national statement with a win Tuesday night over sixth-ranked Kentucky. The Gamecocks have won two of the last three contests against the Wildcats at home but Kentucky leads the series 54-14.
Kentucky (14-3, 4-1 SEC) is coming off a 105-point performance in a nine point win at home over Georgia. The Wildcats' only SEC loss came in a 97-92 decision at Texas A&M.
The game starts at 7 p.m. at Colonial Life Arena, 801 Lincoln St., Columbia. Tickets are still available online and at the door. Fans are encouraged to wear black as the game has been deemed a blackout.
The matchup will be televised on the SEC Network.
