COLUMBIA, S.C. — Nick Pringle scored 19 points, Collin Murray-Boyles recorded a double-double and South Carolina beat South Carolina Upstate 73-53 on Saturday.
Murray-Boyles scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his third straight double-double. He entered averaging 18 points and 12 rebounds in the last two games, shooting 70.8% (17 for 24).
Jamarii Thomas added 11 points and Jacobi Wright 10 for South Carolina.
South Carolina (7-3) took a 35-28 lead into halftime and broke it open after intermission. Murray-Boyles started the second half with a layup, Pringle threw down a dunk and Jacobi Wright sank a 3-pointer to push the lead to 42-30 and the Gamecocks led by double digits for the remainder.
Reserve Breylin Garcia scored 14 points for South Carolina Upstate (4-8) which didn't have a starter reach double figures in scoring. The Spartans made just 1 of 10 from 3-point range.
Upstate's Brit Harris took a hard fall after a fast-break dunk with about 5 minutes left in the first half. The 6-foot-4 junior hung on the rim briefly, his feet flew out in front of him and he fell onto his neck and head. Teammates quickly summoned for medical attention and Harris was taken off the court on a stretcher.
The university announced via social media that Harris had been released from the hospital and was “on the road to recovery.”
