Strength in numbers, South Carolina's bench will play a big role in the SEC Tournament gameplan

The winning road to the SEC Tournament title will take three wins in three days and with games stacked on top of each other, the bench comes into play.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The top-ranked Gamecock women's basketball team will face Texas A&M Friday at noon in the first game of the SEC Tournament for Dawn Staley's team.

Carolina has won seven of the last nine SEC Tournaments and as is always the case, depth can be a deciding factor.

Staley has a number of capable players who will not hear their names called prior to tipoff. Cardinal Newman product Ashlyn Watkins has shown there is no drop off when she comes into the game. Watkins is averaging 10.0 points per game and earlier this week, she was named Second Team All-SEC.

For South Carolina to roll through the regular season with a 29-0 record, including a 16-0 conference record, it has to be done with contributors than the starting five.
