COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina's 68-65 win over Ole Miss on Tuesday moved the team to 8-2 in the SEC and combined with Auburn's 99-81 win over Alabama on Wednesday, that 8-2 conference record is good enough for a tie for first in the SEC standings.

The Gamecocks join Alabama and Auburn in a three-way tie for first in the league heading into Saturday's home game with Vanderbilt. Next Wednesday, South Carolina will be at #12 Auburn.

Carolina, which has won six straight, entered the Associated Press Top 25 this week at number 15, is back in the national polls for the first time since 2017.

The Gamecocks are generating national headlines after being picked to finish last in the SEC in the preseason media poll.
