COLUMBIA, S.C. — Freshman Katie Shea Collins recorded her second hat trick of the season and fifth-year senior Catherine Barry moved to the top of the Gamecock record books as #14 South Carolina defeated East Carolina 6-0 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
Barry scored a pair of goals to move past Jenny Ondo for most career goals in program history with 51. Barry's 18 goals this season are the most scored in a season in program history as well.
The six goals are the most the Gamecocks have scored in a NCAA game since scoring seven against Alabama State in 2016. The six goals also matched a season high. In September, USC scored six goals in a win over Georgia State.
South Carolina will travel to Chapel Hill to face Minnesota next week with date and time to be announced.
