COLUMBIA, S.C. — Kyle Kennard is gearing up for the next challenge.
The senior edge rusher who became one of the premier defenders in the country announced on Twitter Friday that he is declaring for the NFL Draft.
After transferring from Georgia Tech, Kennard exceeded expectations and ended up recording 15.5 tackles for loss including 11.5 sacks during the 2024 season. He led the SEC in both categories his sack total ranked sixth in the nation.
This week, Kennard has been named the winner of the Bronco Nagurski Trophy on Monday before being named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year by both the Associated Press and the league coaches. On Thursday, Kennard was named a First Team All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
Kennard's message on social media did not make known if he is playing in the Cheez-It Bowl in Orlando on New Year's Eve. Normally, these type of messages signals goodbye and that could end up being the case, but until Kennard updates his status for this month, his availability for the bowl game is TBA.
