COLUMBIA, S.C. — Louise Rydqvist has already played at the home of the Masters and now she is about to walk the grounds of another legendary venue.
The rising senior All-American won the 2024 European Ladies’ Amateur Championship on Saturday at Messilä Golf Club in Finland. She shot 14-under over the last four days to win by three shots over Spain’s Andrea Revuelta.
The victory gives Rydqvist an exemption into the upcoming AIG Women’s Open at the Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland. The tournament, which is one of the five majors in ladies professional golf, will take place Aug. 22-25. The Old Course is considered the oldest course in the world and in 2022, it hosted the 150th Open Championship.
In April, Rydqvist made the cut at the Augusta National Women's Amateur which allowed her to play the third and final round at the Augusta National Golf Club.
