COLUMBIA, S.C. — Gamecocks fans gathered at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds for the chance to meet basketball stars Kamilla Cardoso and MiLaysia Fulwiley.
Freshman guard MiLaysia Fulwiley says she is grateful for the fan support.
“They’re here to support us even if its on the court or selling chicken or whatever we do," said Fulwiley. "It just means a lot being here in Columbia where they love us so much, I mean we feel grateful and we’re blessed.”
Zaiah Nance is a student at USC and says he's been following the team closely.
“You know I love the women’s basketball team," said Nance. "We’ve been to pretty much every game and I just want to come out here and support them in the best way I can.”
Fans were able to congratulate the NCAA Tournament winners, capture some selfies and grab a bite to eat.
Ashlyn Watkins also couldn’t miss out on the fun as she made an appearance for a couple of minutes.
Megan Mohr is a USC student, she says this wouldn't be possible with Coach Dawn Staley.
“I feel like our school has such a good spirit around our football team, our basketball team and everything and I feel like the support is so overwhelming that you should want to go to USC and support our teams," said Mohr. "Everything and the women’s team is awesome especially Dawn Staley made this all like possible"
Cassy Dickson and Melissa Kinard were one of the many fans who lined up to meet their favorite players.
“It means everything," said Dickson. "Revenge tour becoming the repetition tour, we are so excited, we’re so happy it’s been such a fun season to watch.”
Kamilla Cardoso says she is heading to New York on Saturday for the WNBA draft and she hopes to see Gamecocks fans supporting her in the WNBA.
"I'm so thankful to come to South Carolina being able to experience this fan base," said Cardoso. "Y'all the best fanbase in the country. And I am looking forward to see all of y'all watching me in the league and supporting me and I'm always going to love y'all and miss you."
Kamilla Cardoso is expected to be a top five pick in the draft on Monday.
