COLUMBIA, S.C. — It was quite the Saturday for A'ja Wilson.
The Heathwood Hall and South Carolina graduate was on the court with her Las Vegas Aces teammates for their only preseason game of 2024 against the Puerto Rico national team.
It was a familiar stat line for Wilson, who recorded a game-high 27 points and 14 rebounds in a 102-50 Las Vegas victory, which was also the Gamecock legend's homecoming.
But the day also marked a major announcement: Wilson will be getting her own Nike signature shoe. It was no coincidence that the announcement came with Wilson back home playing in front of family and friends.
Wilson says she and Nike have been working on this project for more than a year, and she was relieved to finally be able to make the announcement that she will have her own brand of Nike footwear, which will be an expression of her creative side.
This announcement comes just days after she agreed to an endorsement deal with Gatorade, further proof that Wilson is one of the faces of the WNBA. Her brand has reached another level, as she is on the roster of two iconic companies.
