CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The NFL unveiled the long awaited schedule for teams and the Carolina Panthers will kick off the Dave Canales era on September 8 at New Orleans.
The home opener is the following Sunday against the Chargers who have a new head coach Jim Harbaugh, a former Panthers quarterback who returns to the NFL after leading Michigan to the national championship back in January.
That game in week two and the game at Las Vegas in week three have been designated for broadcast by CBS.
There is a three-week stretch where the Panthers will be seen on CBS - week 7 at Washington, week 8 at Denver and week 9 against New Orleans. Former Gamecock quarterback Spencer Rattler will be back in the Carolinas for that Nov. 3 contest as he is a rookie quarterback with the Saints.
The week 12 game at home against the reigning two-time Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs is also a CBS game and that could be the national game depending on how the Panthers are progressing under Canales and company.
In week 17, the Panthers travel to Tampa Bay in which would give the Panthers a total of seven games on CBS but that is subject to change.
