Columbia, SC --- South Carolina men's soccer alum Brad Guzan was was named to the 30-man preliminary roster for the 2014 FIFA World Cup by U.S. National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann earlier this week.
The U.S. opens its seventh-consecutive World Cup appearance against Ghana on June 16 in Natal, Brazil.
One of 10 players who were also on the preliminary roster for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Guzan is one step away from making his second-straight U.S. World Cup roster.
Along with Guzan in 2010, Josh Wolff in 2002 and 2006 and Clint Mathis in 2002, the Gamecocks have been represented on the last three U.S. World Cup rosters. The former Gamecock All-American will look to make it four straight when the 23-man roster is announced by June 2.
