Coco Gauff featured on Wheaties box ahead of US Open

Gauff, 20, is the reigning U.S. Open champion.

ATLANTA — One of Atlanta's favorite daughters, Coco Gauff, has gotten one of sport's highest honors: her own Wheaties box.

General Mills, the cereal company that makes Wheaties, unveiled the box featuring 20-year-old Gauff on Tuesday ahead of the 2024 U.S. Open.

Gauff, born and partially raised in Atlanta, is the reigning champion at the tournament after she captured her first grand slam title in Flushing Meadows last year.

“It is an honor to be on the next Wheaties box, especially as the legendary Billie Jean King passes the historic ‘Wheaties Champion’ title onto me,” Gauff said in a statement. “I’ve had so many role models in this sport help guide my professional and personal journey, and I hope to keep empowering the next generation to also work hard and dream big.”

Currently ranked No. 3 in the world, Gauff reached the semifinals earlier this year at tennis' other hardcourt grand slam tournament, the Australian Open. She also went to the semifinals at the French Open and the round of 16 at Wimbledon.

In a release, Wheaties senior brand experience manager KC Glaser said in a statement Gauff is "showing the world that anything is possible when you dare to dream — the definition of a Wheaties Champion."

“We are thrilled to recognize Coco as our newest Wheaties champion amid her incredible season on the court and her ongoing activism work off the court," the statement added.

According to the General Mills release, Gauff's Wheaties box will be available at major retailers starting this month for $6.19.
