South Carolina brings Travian Robertson home to coach the defensive line

Robertson was a team captain at South Carolina in 2011 before a four-year NFL career.

Travian Robertson is now the next USC graduate to have an office at the Long Family Football Operations Center. He has been hired as the Gamecocks' new defensive line coach, replacing Jimmy Lindsey who departed for LSU.

Robertson was a starting defensive tackle at South Carolina from 2007-2011, serving as team captain for his final season. Beamer and Robertson were in the program together under Steve Spurrier from 2007-2010 before Beamer departed for Virginia Tech.

The Lauringburg, North Carolina native spent the 2022 season as the defensive line coach at Tulane. His coaching career started in 2017 when he was a graduate assistant under Shawn Elliott at Georgia State.

After his first full-time coaching position took him to Albany State for the 2018 season, he returned to Atlanta to work for Elliott as Georgia State's defensive line coach. 

After three seasons in that role, Robertson went to Tulane for the 2022 season but now he is back in the Southeast and working at his alma mater.

Robertson was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft and played for the Falcons before stops in Seattle and Washington rounding out a four-year NFL career.
